Pumpkins!

Check out our little seedlings! Last year, my mom bought me a cute little pumpkin to give my apartment some Fall & Halloween atmosphere (I was saving for a wedding). The pumpkin did its job, then I threw it in some dirt outside to let it rot. It finally did a few months ago...then, we let the seeds sit in that spot a while longer until I bought some Zinnias to plant in that spot (now that I'm married, I can buy things like flowers). So, the pumpkin seeds were thrown away in a box first, only to be saved and put in a galvanized bucket.

These babies are small, maybe around an inch. I'll keep you posted on how these guys do!

Vintage Fabric Finds

Estate sales are a great place to snag fabric. It's always cheap and you can awesome vintage fabrics. Learning to sew is on my to do list, so I grabbed a grocery bag full of fabric for less than $5!

Vintage Pillow ticking and lace. The red and blue ticking is already sewn in to a pillow form and has a small hole for stuffing. That should be an easy first project!

Really love the gray/pink/blue and whit/pink/green floral fabrics shown above.

The red fabric is Waverly - for mere cents! And below, more awesome vintage fabrics.

Final picture shows most of the fabric I bought.  Do you have any project ideas or tips for a newbie to sewing?

3 Months

Today, we've been married for 3 months. It's a short time compared to the almost 8 years we dated before we were married. To celebrate, we took the dogs for a walk by Muddy Creek. We missed the cows at the nearby farm, but I did catch a moth on a pretty yellow flower.

The best part about the walk was seeing the progress Jack made out there. Somewhere along the way, Jack became fearful of other people and dogs, and now lunges and growls at every one he sees. During the walk, we managed to have Jack sit and calmly watch people walk, run, bike, and push a stroller by. He still jumped at the dogs, but, he made progress. We'll get there slowly.

We definitely had a good Sunday morning. How was yours?

Friday Junkin'

I love when I'm able to go junkin' on Fridays! Here's a little sample of what I got. I'm in love with the basket, it reminds me of the baskets on display at Pottery Barn and I LOVE Pottery Barn (or the look of pottery barn, I'm too cheap to buy from them right now). What's missing from this picture are my two favorite pieces, a white chippy cabinet and a white chippy picket fence. Yes, that's right, I got a picket fence today. But, the fence won't fit in my car. My amazing mom is supposed to help me pick it up tomorrow, so pictures will come soon!

Old Rusty Trucks

David and I are thinking about getting a truck. While we're going to be practical and look for a lightly used (Ford) truck, I can't help but look for an old rusty truck to sit under our one-day barn and hauling our one-day hay. A rusty blue would be the perfect decoration for the Fourth of July, adorned with a flag on the side and bunting on the tail gate. We'd fix some lemonade and watermelon, pull down the tailgate, and picnic in the field while we watch fireworks exploding in the sky.

But, on the other hand, an old red truck is great for Christmas. We'd take it to the mountains on a snowy day to get our Christmas Tree and pick up some extra greenery to decorate around the farm. The front of the truck would be decorated with a Christmas Wreath.

Picking Paint

There’s a secret you should know about me. I don’t pick out paint colors. I have a general idea of the color I want – some shade of pink, a shade of blue. But really, I buy paint for the name. I could spend hours walking through the paint section at Lowe’s, pulling out the color card just to find the perfect name. Today, I picked out Valspar’s Birch White, Sky Blue, Spring Linen, and Katydid. I especially love the name Katydid. I have furniture piled high in the garage just begging to be painted these colors.
